The village of Itacaré

The county has 746 km2 of territory and about 20,000 inhabitants, 60% living in rural areas. The port serves mainly for fishing, Itacaré's main activity. With the declining cocoa culture, the town is turning toward tourism.

The state government is investing in Itacaré. A paved road has just been constructed, which includes Itacaré in the Green Line highway that follows the Bahia coastline.

The town conserves all the charm of the past and the beaches stay secluded. Itacaré is a refuge for nature lovers and surfers.
